The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) met with 2024 PAFIOO Banaag Awardee Dr. Elvy G. Barroso to discuss updates on her recent tuberculosis (TB) prevention activities and her proposed collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH) through the Fight Against Tuberculosis Among Filipinos Foundation, Inc. (FATBFF).
During the meeting, Dr. Barroso inquired about the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between her foundation and the DOH. The CFO had already provided her with a copy of the draft MOU and discussed the next steps during her courtesy visit with the CFO on July 18, 2025. As part of that engagement, the PAFIOO Secretariat also endorsed her TB initiatives under the CFO-Project Management Division (PMD)’s Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL), a flagship program that connects overseas Filipinos with development efforts in the Philippines.
Dr. Barroso also proposed another meeting with CFO to share updates from their foundation’s meeting with Meralcoโs International Patient Care group and to discuss potential improvements in managing household contacts of TB patients.
